Side 1
Nun: I was reading for most of the flight.
Man: The bible?
Nun: No. (BEAT) I was reading until the first one interrupted.
Man: What were you reading?
Nun: A letter. I suppose it could have been terrorism. How many explosions did you
count?
Man: At least two.
Nun: I thought there might have been three.
Man: Might have been.
Nun: Last thing I remember was a man screaming. He fell on top of me and his face
was inches from mine. I could smell the Bloody Mary mix. And he kept
screaming, “We’re all going to die.” “We’re all going to die!” I couldn’t help but
smile ‘cause I’ve known we were all going to die since first grade.
Man: Last thing I saw was Carl. He looked scared, but he was trying to hide it. He
does that.
Nun: Then that means the last thing he saw was you. What did you look like?
Man: Terrified. But I tried to tell him how much I love him with my eyes. I probably
looked like some maniacal silent film star. Rudolph Valentino searching for the
perfect expression.
Nun: Maybe you made him laugh.
