Nora Berg, Director of Workshops

Nora has been involved with RLT since 1982 when she came on board to assistant stage manage You Can't Take it With You , directed by Marion Lee. She did, however, spend the previous year doing make-up for various productions under the tutorship of Marilyn Wiebe and Jo Dunn and was heard the utter the immortal words “I'm glad all I do is make-up”.

Apparently, that was a passing phase as since then Nora has done pretty much everything that is remotely connected to theatre, from working backstage, acting, directing and loyally serving on the executive for more years than she cares to count! She was very honoured indeed, when a life membership was bestowed upon her at the 2002-2003 Annual General Meeting in September 2003. If she doesn't miss her guess, she is the youngest person to receive this honour and was a bit surprised to have it granted to her as it is usually reserved for those “of a certain age”.

Then again, Nora finds herself playing characters “of a certain age” more often than not! You may recognize her from her most recent roles which include “Ethel”, the deaf grandmother in Moon Over Buffalo , and “Rose” in Unity 1918 . She was very flattered to be awarded Best Supporting Actress trophies for both of these roles at Theatre Saskatchewan Provincial Drama Festivals in 2003 and 2005 respectively.

Nora would like to thank her Grade 7 homeroom teacher, Joe Repetski, who encouraged her to try out for the very first play she was ever in – Flight into Danger , in which she played “Dr. Frances Baird”.

When Nora isn't doing something related to drama, she is the Promotion and Marketing Coordinator for Saskatchewan Express and is tolerated by her two cats: Buster and Abby.
