Past Performances: Radio Rides Again... Again!

The Lone Ranger and his faithful sidekick Tonto... Charlie McCarthy and W.C. Fields... Lamont Cranston... all of these familiar characters and more were on hand at Radio Rides Again... Again!, a fundraising performance of vintage radio shows to benefit Theatre Regina and Regina Little Theatre.

Over 140 people attended the single-evening performance. Directed and dramaturged by Jean Freeman, the show included radio plays such as The Happy Gang, The Lone Ranger and The Romance of Helen Trent.

The stage was set similar to a radio station during the golden days of radio. Each performer read his or her lines into a microphone, while foley artists created sound effects to mimic actions such as a door slamming or footsteps. Members of the audience were obliged to participate by clapping at appropriate times (when the applause sign was lit), similar to that of a studio audience.

The evening generated approximately $1500 for each organization through ticket sales, a silent auction, a canteen and a cash bar.

RLT and Theatre Regina would like to thank the joint fundraising committee and all the volunteers who helped make Radio Rides Again... Again! such a success... again!
