About the play
An elaborate and dangerous display of arrogance...
Rope, which was made into a classic Alfred
Hitchcock movie, is the story of two Oxford students who commit what
they think is the perfect crime, essentially just for kicks. They murder
another young man and stuff his body into a chest, then invite several
people, including the victim's father, over for tea--which they serve
from the lid of the chest.
"Darkly humorous and highly suspenseful."
