Set on
a late fall day in 1780 in the frontier home of Standfast
Billings near Fort Cumberland, Nova Scotia. Standfast
Billings' wife (Faithful) is dying. Realizing he cannot make
it through the winter raising 6 children alone, he posts an
ad in faraway Halifax for a new bride, believing she will
arrive after Faithful's passing. Things go awry when his
friend Tom shows up on the doorstep, delivering the new
bride (Susanna) just as Faithful is making a miraculous
recovery! An angry Faithful orders Standfast to persuade Tom
to take Susanna for his own, but Tom is not too wise in the
ways of men & women. A great comedy with great characters
